Held in Melbourne from 13 – 15 October 2017. The classic motor show focuses on showcasing vintage, classic and exotic cars in the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens. There is a range of events including Tour Classica, the Classic Motor Show and Concours d’Elegance. Here’s a rundown of what you can expect.

Tour Classica

The Motorclassica program begins with a road rally through Melbourne showcasing the vehicles that make up this year’s Concours d’Elégance. Heading en route to the Royal Exhibition Building, the convoy of over 70 cars and motorcycles. Starts at Alexandra Gardens on the south bank of the Yarra. This is an important part of the Concours judging as points are given to vehicles who complete the drive. It also presents good opportunities for photos by attendees and general onlookers.

Concours d’Elegance

Concours d’Elégance translated from French means a ‘competition of elegance’ and dates back to the 17th century. Back then they paraded horse drawn carriages in Paris parks, but today it pertains to the Motorclassica competition between classic cars for the title of ‘‘Best in Show’’ award. Judges award points in a variety of show classes based on historic significance, condition, appearance and originality.
