The International Motor Show Abu Dhabi (IMSAD) 2018 proved to be a custom car enthusiasts dream. The third annual show, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from April 5 to 7, achieved record attendance and certainly delivered when it came to top-notch entertainment and incredible, exclusive event deals. Here are a few of the highlights from IMSAD 2018 that should solidify its position as a powerful international motor show.
A focus on custom design
Without doubt, IMSAD is an event that is thoroughly focused on the customer. Various showroom ready models were showcased from a diverse range of manufacturers. However, the Custom Show Emirates was what really attracted the crowd. The custom builds were particularly popular, with custom motorbike builders showcasing from Italy, Switzerland, Turkey and Germany. The Engines Battle and Bike Build-off events took some of the best mechanical minds in the country and pitched them against each other to construct the most souped-up custom bike possible. The custom sand vehicles on display were also particularly popular with the locals.
Interactive elements a huge hit
While the Custom Show Emirates provided classic adrenaline-pumping car show entertainment such as 4×4 saloon drifting and stunt driving events, it also delivered hands-on activities that were highly favoured. IMSAD was not a spectator only event. Show-goers were encouraged to participate in competitions, demonstrations and onsite activities. The kid’s entertainment was also of the hands-on variety, with a Kids’ Garage.
Unveiling of the new model Ford Expedition and 2018 Mustang
Of the new cars on display, the new generation Ford Expedition and 2018 Mustang were of great significance. It was the first reveal of both models on the market, drawing a large crowd. Premiere Motors were also offering incredibly competitive trade-in deals on select Mustang models.
Debut of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator
The unveiling of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator was another key event. Once again, Premiere Motors offered Incredible show-exclusive discounts, not just on the cars, but also on insurance.
Volvo XC60 wins Middle East Car of the Year 2018
The third element of the 2018 IMSAD involved the fifth Middle East Car of the Year Award, which the Volvo XC60 championed. The XC60 and XC40 have taken out various awards at international shows, including World Car of the Year Award at the 2018 New York Auto Show (XC60) and European Car of the Year at the Geneva Motor Show (XC40). Both models offer superior safety features including a Pilot Assist system, City Safety, Run-off-Road protection and mitigation, and Cross Traffic alert with brake support.
